World Class Beauty Queens: Please tell us about yourself.
I have over a decade of experience working as a full time hairstylist. Currently I am semi-retired from this line of work with a handful of my core clients that have been with me for years that I still enjoy working on. Having raised my nephew, Cory, and being in a large part of my two stepsons lives, Rafael and Rogelio, I believe children are our most precious gift and that no child should be forgotten or be without support. This is why I became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children volunteering with CASA of Los Angeles. CASA helps children to spend less time in foster care, increases chance of adoption, and the opportunity to thrive. Living with Hashimoto’s Disease, life isn’t always easy but it is manageable. Being the current California spokeswoman for the Thyroid Awareness Foundation it is not only my duty but my passion to be dedicated in educating others on the importance of the thyroid gland. Because what you don’t know could kill you…
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
Within the three years I competed as a Mrs I tried several systems and worked my way from the bottom. I honestly went from not placing at all to placing top 10, top 5, 4 th runner up and I didn’t give up until I took home the crown!
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
Growing up I was the shyest wall flower anyone had ever seen. I wouldn’t participate in class or ever dare raise my hand. I was teased terribly! I didn’t know it back then but now they call it bullying, no wonder I had so many issues. One day out of the blue I told my mom I wanted to model, I had saw an ad in the paper for Barbizon Modeling School. She was so surprised, but hoping for the best she did enroll me. I really began to blossom from there and come into my own. As I was graduating, someone at the school recommended a pageant… MY WHOLE WORLD CHANGED
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
When I first heard of Woman of Achievement and how Platform oriented it is, I wanted to compete for the title of Mrs. Elite California Woman of Achievement to enable my voice to be heard stronger and louder. People just seem to listen more when your wearing that sash and crown.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
“Where Your Platform Is Our Passion” Women of achievement offers a venue for single and married women of all ages to attend networking events, an Annual Leadership Luncheon and National Pageant awarding cash grants for community service as well as recognition for academic achievement, self improvement through creative arts and public speaking. The mission of woman of achievement is to recognize outstanding women and organizations for their work in their respective communities, and to connect women through networking and enrichment courses. We welcome nominations of outstanding women who deserve to be rewarded for giving back to their communities.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are you being judged on during the competition?
25% Personal Interview
25% Platform Interview
15% Evening Gown
World Class Beauty Queens: How was your experience during the competition?
I’ve said it before and I will say it for you again, I truly found my home with this system! My experience was absolutely amazing! Our wonderful director Marlena truly makes every lady feel so special and she puts on such a fantastic production.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for?
Thyroid Awareness has always been something close to my heart. With both of my parents having Thyroid Disease and my mother also suffered from Medullary Thyroid Cancer, it was inevitable for me. In my twenties I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. By my thirties I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease which you suffer from both symptoms of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism and sometimes you never know which one your going to get next. I’ve made it my mission to help others and spread the word. By no means am I an expert but if something I’ve learned can help someone else along the way. Being a spokeswoman for the Thyroid Awareness Foundation my goal is to attend social events such as health expos, senior centers, schools, and anywhere else that could use a little educating on the Thyroid Gland. We also help raise money for those who can’t afford a Thyroid test and we are here to help direct you to the correct doctors for you.
World Class Beauty Queens: What appearances have you done with your title?
I became Mrs. Elite California Woman of Achievement a little over a month ago and can I tell you I am having so much fun! I’m one that likes to pack a lot in so I really tried to hit the ground running so to speak. My first official appearance I got to go one of the Emmy’s gifting suites and do the whole red carpet appearance. Next I was very happy to participate in the CASA Justice Jog/Walk. Then dress shopping and modeling at the world famous Noell Store with one of my sister Queens! This week has been LA Fashion Week and I did get to sneak in on it a little bit. I was invited as a model to one of the after party’s where I met with the owner of LexiCo Fashion whom I auditioned for. She then called me as a model dropped out at the last minute morning of her fashion show asking me to model for her!
World Class Beauty Queens: What is your onstage strategy to win the judges over?
Being myself! Nothing more.
World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
If I love something I do it with passion and all of my heart. I wouldn’t say I’m special, but I’m different.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did it feel to hear your name as the winner?
I honestly think there was a little lapse as if I didn’t hear my name at all. It was so unbelievable and I was ecstatic! Things happen so fast on stage yet it’s a feeling you will never forget.
World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to be a beauty queen?
Being a beauty Queen to me is about the beauty within. Someone who has the heart of gold with the morals to match. Someone who is out volunteering among her community and giving back. Someone who lifts her fellow women up and lends support.
World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants help your life?
Competing in pageants has helped my life in so many ways. Not only did it break this shy little girl out of her shell but it blossomed a spokeswoman into her community helping more and more people. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime!
World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there. How does it feel?
World Class Beauty Queens: What have you learned from choosing the dress for your competition?
I am a typical woman that loves the bling! It’s also hard to narrow it down to one dress ha ha.
World Class Beauty Queens: What have you learned from the interview portion of the competition?
The interview portion of the competition is really your chance to shine! It gives you the opportunity to show your personality off. Let those judges get a good look at who you really are.
World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2018 as a Queen?
Be as active as I possibly can serving my community while maintaining my family life.
World Class Beauty Queens: What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I feel I have been so blessed with this opportunity, and this personality, and this energy, I am in a unique position to help. I want my work to impact people. I want all the great work I do to be of real use. I think it will be the ultimate resource, the ultimate legacy and inspiration for generations to come.
World Class Beauty Queens Magazine would like to say thank you to Andrica Love Mrs Elite California Woman of Achievement 2017 for this amazing interview.
