Aileen Lu Ms. Attractive China International 2016

Aileen Lu Ms. Attractive China International 2016
My platform is to empower survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault, making the world a better place.  I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. In the Asian culture, when a man abuses a woman, she does not dare to speak up. I want to be the voice for victims of domestic abuse and let them know that they can speak up for themselves and there are resources here to help them. That’s how I got started. During the journey, I learned about human trafficking and sexual assault which made me expand my current platform, which is now empowering survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault.

World Class Beauty Queens: How was your experience during the competition?
It was a great experience displaying my beauty inside and out through beautiful dresses including the traditional Chinese dresses as well as demonstrating my passion in dance. Most importantly, it allowed me to use this platform to reach out to more lives and empower them.

World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your platform or what cause do you volunteer for.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Houston is one of the largest hubs for human trafficking in the nation. 80 percent of those trafficked are female and half are children.

According to the Texas Council on Family Violence, more women are being killed in domestic violence murders, including 132 women killed in Texas 2014. Houston and Harris County had the highest number of deaths in the state with 23 domestic violence murders.

A 2000 study from the Bureau of Justice Statistics found that only 28% of victims report their sexual assault to the police. Victims of rape and attempted rape who did not report to the police did not report for a number of reasons. 43% of victims did not report because they thought that nothing could be done, 27% thought it was a private matter, 12% were afraid of the police response, and 12% felt it was not important enough to report. Each year, an estimated 25,000 American women will become pregnant following an act of sexual violence. As many as 22,000 of those pregnancies could be prevented through the prompt use of emergency contraception. In 29% of rapes, the offender used a weapon.

I have been invited as the spokesperson and board member by many organizations.

World Class Beauty Queens:  What is your onstage strategy to win the judges over?
Be myself. A beautiful mind will grow while the appearance will fade over time. I remember that it’s not about me, nor the title. It’s another platform to empower more survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault with my beauty and intelligence.

World Class Beauty Queens: What makes you stand out from all those other beautiful girls?
Everyone is beautiful out there. To some, it’s just to look beautiful that day, not for any cause even though it has been claimed as their platforms. I believe in being beautiful inside and out. I have built on-going track records of empowering survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault. More works are being planned as we speak.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did it feel to hear your name as the winner?
If it’s God’s work, it shall be done. I feel blessed to be able to gain the platform to empower more people.

World Class Beauty Queens: What does it mean to you to be a Beauty Queen?
It’s not about me, nor the title. It’s another platform to empower more survivors of domestic abuse, human trafficking and sexual assault with my beauty and intelligence.

World Class Beauty Queens: How did competing in pageants helped your life?
I have challenged myself everyday to set higher milestones and improving myself constantly as a good role model. It makes me feel fulfilled as I continue to empower people and change people’s lives.

World Class Beauty Queens: You are an inspiration to all the girls out there.  How does it feel?
Some call me an inspiration while others say that I have a heart of an angel. While it feels like an achievement to be both intelligent and beautiful, I feel especially fulfilled being able to empower people.

World Class Beauty Queens: What have you learned from practicing your walk.
The walk is quite different between wearing the western style gowns vs. the traditional Chinese dress. The traditional Chinese dress comes with a high split. Therefore, it is the best to walk slowly and elegantly. The key is to find out the uniqueness of each outfit and walk to best compliment the style, while bringing out the my own beauty inside and out.

World Class Beauty Queens: What designer did you choose and what have you learned from choosing the dress for the competition?
Kamica Hampton Shoes is one of my favorite. It is a statement that demonstrates my confidence from within without speaking.

World Class Beauty Queens: What have you learned from the interview portion of the competition?
It is an opportunity to display intelligence, inner beauty as well as to announce the platform.

World Class Beauty Queens: What are your plans for 2018 as a Queen?
Stay tuned.

World Class Beauty Queens:  What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind?
I encourage more beauty pageants to utilize their platforms to empower people. I believe that if we all make a little effort, we can make the world a much better place together.
