My name is Telma Madeira, I´m 17 years old, I live in Portugal, more precisely in Porto. Right now I’m finishing high school in the course of Kitchen and pastry technique, it is an area that I really like and I’m passionate about. The kitchen is something that fascinates me. I like the area of makeup artistry, I want to take a course to specialize in that area. In the I will focus on physiotherapy as my profession. One of my biggest dreams is the area of fashion and I am fighting for one of my biggest dreams. Some of my good qualities are being persistent and never give up on my goals. One of my weakness is being stubborn at times.
World Class Beauty Queens: Tell us about your pageant history.
I started my participation in beauty pageants in 2016 , my first beauty pageant was in my hometown. The reason I want to sign up was to appreciate my capabilities, because in adolescence I suffered bullying and it took really long time for me to understand that I had inner beauty. Pageants helped me improve my self-esteem. In 2017 I decided to take even bigger step, and as a joke I sign up in Miss Queen Portugal. In the begging it was joke, but it became something that I really wanted. Competition made me realize that I want to be an example for young women from Portugal who already suffered bullying and who are going through it. Competition helped me grow and evaluate myself as a woman. Through dedication and effort I finally won the tittle of Miss Queen Portugal 2017 and Miss Earth Portugal 2018.
World Class Beauty Queens: What inspired you to do your first pageant?
What most inspired me to sign up in my first pageant was definitely for all my problems that I already passed in my adolescence and gave me force to give a bigger step in my life. It was important to be participated in something of this genre and with this experience I started to win self-esteem and self-confidence and with that I learn to dedicate my qualities in relation to good social causes and environmental causes.
World Class Beauty Queens: Why did you choose to compete for your current title?
I decided to compete in Miss Queen Portugal , because I identified myself enough with the legacy of it and so my interest was increasing by the contest.
Concept of this is “beauty for the good, “and as I thought to give more meaning to my actions and was more confident about my self-esteem, it was time to risk my luck.
I organized a parade of solidarity to help children in need and I thought it would fit the purpose of the contest well. This one want to raise awareness of environmental problems and social causes and all that I had done in relation to the solidarity movement, and if it won the same could follow up the causes that I advocate. And this is what has happened, through the contest I have managed to give voice to the causes and I fight and I look for to be an example for the young people of Portugal.
World Class Beauty Queens: To those unfamiliar with your pageant system please tell us what is it about?
The Miss Queen Portugal is the largest beauty contest in Portugal, working in four strands: beauty, environment, social and health. Candidates from Mainland Portugal, Azores, Madeira and Portuguese Communities pass through 3 qualifiers to reach the national final On average, 700 candidates participate annually and only 30 arrive at the last stage. The National Final was over 6 days, which involved various activities linked to social solidarity and awareness of environmental problems, as well as parades and evidence such as talent. The beauty contests have helped me a lot in my life in all aspects helped me to change my ideas and life goals. I always wanted to be a reference for all the young women , I wanted to pass on the message that I never give up and always persist, this is one of the life slogans that I always carry with me, wherever I go, I want to show the young women
To get where I arrived today, there was a lot of work behind, a lot of tears, but everything in the end is worth it and God will compensate us in some way. And I believe that everything I spent in school and being judged by everyone was the reason why God gave me the strength to continue and gave me this wonderful gift that was to be Miss Queen Portugal 2017 and Miss Earth Portugal 2018 !! I am also blessed to know that there are women who see me as an inspiration this is a responsibility for me because I never thought there were young people who liked me so much and who could see me as an example for society and so I try to do my best to show that everything is possible, and the advice I give to all of them is that they never give up on their dreams and that they continue because walking is long but the goal will one day arrive.
World Class Beauty Queens: What have you learned from practicing your walk.
I have learned a lot so far, I have evolved with all this, but my journey is still starting now and I still have much to learn and that only through work, persistence and dedication will I be able to get far. Knowing how to listen is one of the human qualities that I want for more in practice and I am very focused on my environmental project, besides the miss competencies that I need to develop.

I chose a store called Farytaile, my dress was green, I based myself on the fact that Portugal has two very striking colors on the flag that is green and red and here in Portugal green is the color of hope, and this is what I helped to choose the dress, and I do not think I could make a better choice for that day.

I believe that what we need to focus on the interview is to mention that it’s something we really want and I really wanted to win this title, it cost me a lot to get there, and I wanted to show that I had abilities besides a beautiful face, I wanted to show which also had content.
